France's Prince Louis-Albert de Broglie is known as Le Prince Jardinier—the gardener prince. He earned the nickname as a young man-about-Paris by wearing an old straw hat from his grandmother's estate. The label stuck, and when he started a garden tools business eight years ago, that's what he called it. Since De Broglie couldn't find implements that looked at home in the splendid grounds of the 16th-century Loire Valley château he was developing as a hotel, he created a line of handmade tools modeled on the antique garden equipment found on great French estates. They are evidently fit for a you-know-what: Prince Charles himself uses them.
