Luis Barragán’s Colorful Inspiration

After a recent visit to modernist architect and Pritzker prize–winner Luis Barragán’s home and studio in Mexico City, I immediately felt thirsty for color. In the 1940s, Barragán started doing the color blocking we are seeing in fashion now. Here are some simple ways to bring brightness into the home, from pops like the Lacquer Company ice buckets to big statements such as a David Benjamin Sherry photograph. Don’t be afraid: A bit of strong, pure color makes everything feel fresh and will work some magic in any room.
