An increasing number of fashion designers are turning their discerning eye to home decor, creating everything from dishware and furniture to upholstery fabrics that echo their runway aesthetic. “They see the opportunity to create beautiful objects that are meant to be enjoyed every day,” says Craig Robins, CEO of Dacra, the developers of Miami’s burgeoning Design District. “The quotidian nature of great home design—the question of whether you can make something beautiful, meaningful and special but also functional and livable—presents them with a fresh challenge,” he says.
