American Express launched new offers for eligible Card Members today, which included significant dining rewards for Card Members to support restaurants in the U.S. on #TakeoutTuesday. #TakeoutTuesday is a newly launched endeavor from American Express and Resy that’s inspiring consumers to pick up from their favorite restaurants on Tuesdays to support small businesses across America. It’s part of their larger “Order In, Help Out” campaign to support restaurants through an extremely challenging time. In launching #TakeoutTuesday, Resy and Amex have created a takeout hub and Shop Small Map to guide diners’ choices and help them find the best independent restaurants near them.

The Resy and Amex takeout dining guides go live today, February 1, 2021, and later in the month, Resy will curate takeout packages from restaurants across the country to further inspire diners and put great restaurants on their radars. Amex's role in this Order In, Help Out effort is an extension of their renowned Shop Small initiative to support small businesses. Resy is equally committed to aiding restaurants—they’ve provided 100% relief on all Resy fees and billing through June 30, 2021, a program they introduced in March 2020.

#TakeoutTuesday draws from the American Express Independent Restaurant Insight study, which found that 90% of restaurant owners reported the pandemic to be the biggest threat to their business since opening, and 89% saying they have depended on takeout orders to keep their doors open amid COVID-19. Further, according to the study, small restaurants say they need at least 52 takeout orders a day to stay afloat. Typically, however, restaurants average only 40 takeout orders each day. The insights from the study, as well as the Order In, Help Out campaign, serve to remind consumers that every restaurant order makes a difference; In fact, ordering takeout once a week can generate more than $700 million of revenue a day for independent restaurants.

Of course, to further encourage American Express cobranded Card Members to participate in #TakeoutTuesday, members with eligible cards (consumer and business Delta SkyMiles, Hilton Honors, and Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card Members) can enroll to earn as much as $220 in statement credits at U.S. restaurants. The benefit will apply to takeout or dine-in meals at local restaurants, and Card Members can get $20 back on restaurant spending per month, up to 11 times. The reward offer will run through 2021.
