With temperatures soaring, we are officially in a mood for summer (read: chilled cocktails and long days spent by the pool). Of course, we also can’t deny the obvious—this will be no ordinary summer. We are in the middle of a pandemic that has completely changed our way of life and it doesn’t look like we’ll be going back to “normal” any time soon. So what does that mean for your summer wardrobe and how has this unprecedented situation changed the way we shop?
“We have seen a tremendous increase in activewear, especially track pants where sales were up 130 percent during the first two weeks of home isolation,” said Elizabeth von der Goltz, Net-a-Porter’s Global Buying Director. “Beauty has also been performing extraordinarily well with top sellers from Dr. Barbara Sturm, Augustinus Bader, and Phillip Kinsley.”
The luxury online retailer just launched its summer campaign, High Summer 2020, and it’s full of exclusive capsule collections—an impressive 39, to be exact—by brands such as Paco Rabanne, Ulla Johnson, and Zimmermann.
“We are always listening to our clients and gaining insights from them and their feedback, so many of our exclusives are created to address their needs and wants,” von der Goltz added.
As a result, the collection is brimming with bold hues, vibrant styles, and chic, vacation-ready accessories.
Breezy dresses in romantic florals, lightweight shirts, and comfy wide-legged pants will make you excited for the warmer days ahead while stylish beach cover-ups, kaftans, and sophisticated swimsuits and retro-inspired bikinis will elevate your poolside look. Basket bags, casual sandals, and chic sunglasses are, of course, summer must-haves and there are so many to choose from.
Von der Goltz explained that the beautiful campaign was shot in Barbados in early March just before the lockdown.
“We wanted to inspire our customers and evoke a sense of escapism and joy,” she said. “This campaign really captures a bright, vibrant, free-spirited approach to summer dressing which we felt was very important.”
“I think we are seeing that comfort really is key and a more laid-back relaxed look will be the approach this summer.”
Now check out von der Goltz’s top picks that will make your summer wardrobe more comfortable and a whole lot more stylish.
