While we are still in a post-holiday recovering mode, the fashion pack is already hard at work.

January is a busy month for those following men’s fashion. After London Fashion Week and Pitti Uomo in Florence, the most important men’s fashion trade show, it’s Milan’s turn to shine. Editors, buyers, celebrities, and influencers flock to Italy’s most stylish city to attend the shows of companies like Armani, Prada, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana, just to name a few, and find out first-hand what the designers have in store for next fall and winter.

Meanwhile, there is even more (fashion) action outside the event venues. After all, nobody comes to Milan Fashion Week wearing sweatpants (or if they do, it must be one really stylish pair of sweatpants).

So we curated our favorite street style looks that chic showgoers sport on their way to the men’s shows in Milan. And here’s our main takeaway from them—whether you are in a pair of track pants or are donning a sharp suit, it’s all about the confidence you wear them with (also, a pair of cool shades will make any outfit look better).

These showgoers make the case for investing in a pair of chunky Prada sneakers.

New trend alert! Your coolness factor is proportional to the number of pockets you have.

Turtleneck sweaters have never looked chicer.

Pro tip: for a cool take on the classic hoodie and jeans combo, throw on a floral jacket.

Milan really brings out the best (dressed) in people!

Johannes Huebl and Mathias LeFebre demonstrate how to pull off some of this season’s must-have pieces—a neck scarf and a knee-length coat.

Gentlemen, the short suit is making a comeback (in January, nonetheless).

How to be impossibly cool? Invest in a camel-hued coat.

While New Yorkers embrace black, white is the color of choice in Milan.

Keep it monochrome (in navy and burgundy).
