Lizzo set the tone for the Grammys red carpet being one of the first to arrive in a glamorous white, jewel-embellished Versace gown. Although she wore it effortlessly, it was revealed that it took over two months to make.
Yes, fashion expert and host Zanna Roberts Rassi said during the pre-show that she spoke to the singer's stylist, who said the gown that was over 60 days in the making. What's more, is that they were still working on it as recently as Wednesday. The Grammy nominee topped off the look with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a furry shawl.
The inspiration? A combination of Marlene Dietrich, Madonna, and Whitney Houston, according to Lizzo's stylist Marko Monroe. Some fans even compared it to a similar look Britney Spears donned at the 2000 Grammy Awards when she was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Meanwhile, the "Truth Hurts" songstress has a whopping eight nominations, including Album Of The Year.
But the 31-year-old wasn't the only one rocking a white, embellished ensemble. Gwen Stefani dazzled in a Dolce&Gabbana dress covered in tiny seashells. The Voice coach revealed on the red carpet that some of the shells were collected for her by boyfriend Blake Shelton, and she opted for shells because of his last name (get it?). While Shelton was the one who was nominated, the pair will perform together for the first time.
Other stars rocking embroidered looks include Maggie Rogers, who donned a silk tulle Chanel dress with gold sequins and beads, and Lil Nas X, who had a hot pink Versace cowboy look with plenty of studs. Billie Eilish wore neon green Gucci covered in crystals and Billy Porter stunned in a shimmery fringe hat that mechanically opened to reveal his face.
