If you love fashion, then you probably enjoy awards season just as much as you do fashion week (umm, month?). After all, both events deliver swoon-worthy style moments and trends, except that during awards season it all happens on the red carpet in Hollywood.

And speaking of trends, there were plenty of those at last night’s Golden Globes ceremony, especially when it comes to menswear. Hollywood’s leading men brought their A-game to the red carpet and it was anything but boring—from Ansel Elgort velvet suit and glitter eyeshadow to Rami Malek’s lapel pin—it was a night to remember.

Malek was actually far from the only actor who donned a lapel pin—in fact, it seemed that brooches and pins were the accessories of the night. The Bohemian Rhapsody actor paired his Saint Laurent suit with a Cartier Juste un Clou tie pin in 18-karat white gold.

Apparently, Cartier was also at Jason Momoa’s mind. He opted for a brooch in 18k white gold, onyx, emerald, and diamonds by the French luxury company.

Both Ansel Elgort and Elton John chose to accessorize their suits with eye-catching brooches, too. The former chose a platinum butterfly brooch by Tiffany & Co., while the latter opted for a crystal-embellished rocketship. And then there was Chernobyl director Johan Renck who sported a Chanel brooch—a nod to the brand that he regularly collaborates with (he has directed many of Chanel’s commercials).

Velvet was another big trend of the evening and here we have to mention Ansel Elgort again. While some male celebs stepped out wearing a velvet jacket, Elgort took it a step further with an all-velvet outfit and loafers. Curiously enough, Jason Momoa had a tank top underneath his green Tom Ford velvet jacket that he took off during the ceremony. Hey, if anyone could pull off a tank top at the Golden Globes, it’s going to be Jason Momoa.

And speaking of jackets, we spotted quite a few leading men who opted for a double-breasted silhouette such as Ryan Seacrest, Nick Jonas (in Prada), Daniel Craig (in a tux by Anderson & Sheppard), and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actor Tony Shalhoub.

Finally, we’d like to give a special shout-out to Brad Pitt, Joe Manganiello, Christopher Abbott, and Wesley Snipes who made the case for the good old three-piece suit and we’re totally here for it.
