Bulgari continues to push the boundaries of fine watchmaking by creating timepieces that are not just aesthetical works of art but also stand out with their technical superiority in an industry that constantly strives for perfection. Case in point?

The company just unveiled a new selection of timepieces at Geneva Watch Days 2020 among which the record-setting Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic. This 2020 version of the Octo Finissimo breaks the world record for the thinnest watch that combines automatic winding with a single-push chronograph, tourbillon escapement, and a skeletonized caliber. In other words, this sleek, ultra-thin piece of horological work is without equal on the market.

The complicated movement that measures just 3.5mm and consists of 388 components offers 52 hours of power reserve. It is directly integrated into a 42 mm sandblasted Grade 5 titanium case—a feature that helped keep the thickness of the case to a mere 7.40mm—with a see-through case back that together with the skeletonized dial offer a glimpse at its complicated inner workings. Two counters—a 60-second one and 30-minute one—stand respectively at 3 and 9 o’clock while the movement’s tourbillon complements the dial’s design at 6 o’clock. A pusher at 2 o’clock controls all the chronograph functions of this new Octo Finissimo. The watch comes with a stylish sandblasted titanium bracelet with a folding buckle. Bulgari has produced only 50 pieces of this impressive watch, each retailing for $141,000.

The company’s foray into record-setting designs started in 2014 when it introduced the first Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Manual that featured the world’s thinnest hand-wound flying tourbillon movement. Since then, Bulgari has launched five new additions to the line and each one has set a world record. In this context, 2020 has been an especially good year for the Italian company.

“We already launched last January in Dubai Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon, the smallest ladies watch Tourbillon on the market which complements Diva Finissima Minute Repeater, the thinnest chiming ladies watch available on the market. Complication and records are without genders at Bulgari,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, the company’s global CEO, in a press release.
