Fine jewelry can be intimidating. It’s a big investment and for many new buyers to the jewelry market, they don’t yet have the knowledge to inform their purchasing. Beekman New York, however, is aiming to shift the norms with the launch of its fine-jewelry sharing service, by giving potential buyers and admirers the opportunity to try out exceptional pieces on loan.

Meticulously curated by its founders, Dr. Sharon Novak and Mr. Chris Keesee, the 1,000 piece collection includes pieces from 1870 until the present, all certified and complete with extensive history and background. Dr. Novak explained that they sought to acquire the pieces that really represent the DNA of each jewelry house. So if you’re looking for a piece from Cartier, David Webb, or Boucheron for example, Beekman New York will offer the most iconic. From Verdura, that is an exquisite pair of hand-carved Jade cuffs. From Bulgari, it’s a diamond serpent necklace, only 7 of which are in existence. Clients can pay a daily rental fee anywhere from $25 to $1,500 or they can pay a monthly subscription for the service. The hope is to create a living library, as Dr. Novak says, a service to educate and allow for these rare pieces available to be worn and enjoyed.

Here are some Departures exclusive highlights, all available for loan beginning today:
