Haute horlogerie meets haute couture.

Audemars Piguet is known for its coveted luxe watches while fashionistas lust after Ralph & Russo’s designer duds. So, it makes sense that two family-owned companies would come together to create a one-of-a-kind partnership. The Swiss watch brand’s latest Royal Oak Selfwinding and the new Royal Oak Concept Frosted Gold Flying Tourbillon models will be paired with the British fashion house’s SS21 Prêt-à-Porter collection this fall to mark the beginning of the collaboration

Models don bold red haute couture dresses from the new collection while their wrists outfitted with the Royal Oak Selfwinding in pink gold and the Royal Oak Concept Frosted Gold Flying Tourbillon in pink gold. These are two of the four new models available in stainless steel and 18-carat pink gold. The 18-carat pink gold model also features a diamond-set bezel and a silver-toned guilloché “Grande Tapisserie” dial.

The dial’s trademark guilloché design is created using a rare intricate process no longer taught in horology. “Little squares are carved out on the dial’s thin metal plate by an engraving machine dating back to the 1970s that reproduces the motif of a pattern,” Audemars Piguet described in a release. “Small diamond shapes are simultaneously cut out in the thin grooves separating the squares in a seamless ‘weave’ that creates a tapestry appearance.” It takes extreme precision to complete.

While the partnership was recently formalized, the two brands have been paired together by clients for years. Both are known for using highly trained artisans and top experts in their respective fields. Now, with the two working together, there will be more dedicated events in the months to come.
