Over the past 70 years, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival has become known as much for the films it presents as its ultra-glamorous crowd, flocking the red carpet in couture gowns and armfuls of stunning diamonds. And this year, thanks to a new collaboration between jewelry house and longtime event sponsor Chopard and luxury beauty brand L.RAPHAEL, VIP guests can wear diamonds on their skin, not just around their necks.

The limited-edition Diamond Powder sheet mask, which launched on the opening day of the Cannes Film Festival, combines the benefits of L.RAPHAEL’s multitasking Cure-C mask (said to brighten, tighten, and protect the skin from free radicals) with the exfoliating and, of course, glow-inducing powers of ground diamond dust sourced directly from Chopard.

The two Swiss-based brands are historical partners at this event; celebrities who wear Chopard on the red carpet are usually pampered and prepped at L.RAPHAEL’s Cannes Beauty Spa at the Hotel Martinez, an American Express Fine Hotel & Resort property. This year, notable clients included actresses Julianne Moore and Eva Longoria, both steady fans of L.RAPHAEL’s treatments and products, as well as Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio.

“This marks the first time a luxury jewelry brand has collaborated with a luxury beauty brand,” says L.RAPHAEL founder Ronit Raphael. And what a fitting partnership it is. Diamonds are well-known effective exfoliators. In fact, most microdermabrasion treatments (in which the top layer of the epidermis is gently removed) are done using a wand with a diamond-encrusted tip. With this clean slate, any active ingredients applied afterward are able to more deeply penetrate the skin.

The mask, which includes one sheet mask and a small vial of finely ground diamond powder, will run you $490. It’s currently only available for VIP clients at the film festival (running through May 25), but this fall, call your nearest L.RAPHAEL salon to order your very own.
