The term “jet-setter” was coined for executives like businesswoman and modern-day style icon Aerin Lauder. A designer, tastemaker, and working mother of two, Lauder has been with cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, founded by her grandmother, since 1992. In 2012 she founded her own lifestyle brand AERIN, which sells accessories, jewelry, decor, and beauty products. The AERIN beauty line, described by its founder as “feminine and pretty,” is now sold in over 40 countries globally, and will soon be launching in China.

In her role as Estee Lauder's style and image director, Lauder travels for work and pleasure at least once a month, and always looks impeccable on the road. Her brand is an extension of her own aesthetic: timeless, elegant, effortless, yet modern. She spoke to Departures about her beauty and wellness travel regime and offered tips on staying chic in transit.

Do you enjoy travel?

I love to travel as much as I can, for work or with my family. I am always refreshed and inspired after visiting a new place. I also love to explore and discover new finds that I can offer to the AERIN consumer.

Where does your business travel take you?

My travel varies depending on the needs of the business. In the fall, I will be going to Paris for the launch of our newest AERIN fragrance, and then to China to launch our AERIN beauty business. I will also be going to London and Cartagena for some special projects.

What do you wear when traveling?

Comfort is key, but I also want to make sure I look and feel great. At the airport, I usually wear a blazer, a light cashmere sweater, jeans and a pair of flats. Barrie sweaters are my new discovery for cashmere. They are effortless and the best quality.

What are the must-have items that are always in your carry on?

My AERIN weekender bag is the perfect bag to fit all of my essentials. I always travel with my iPad, snacks, magazines and a scarf.

What are your beauty essentials?

For beauty, I always pack the AERIN Rose Night Table Cream & Overnight Mask. It is a thick moisturizer I apply on my skin before going to sleep, and it completely rejuvenates my dehydrated skin. I top it off with our Rose Water Refreshing & Setting Mist. The smell is magical.

Other than that, I keep my travel beauty simple with a few seasonal favorites. Bronzer is my secret to looking pulled together without much effort. Our AERIN Rose Lip Conditioner adds moisture and shine to my lips and the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum helps my skin look rested. I also apply it over my bronzer for a dewy look. I like to change fragrance based on my mood and season, but AERIN Rose de Grasse is my staple scent.

What are your clothing staples?

I always pack a black or navy blazer that goes with everything, a pair of FRAME denim jeans that can be dressed up or dressed down, an AERIN suede pouch and a silky white or floral shirt. I love Erdem and Giambattista Valli for silky floral tops. I also make sure to include gold accessories and a great pair of flats that are stylish yet practical. I love Paul Andrew and Tabitha Simmons for flats.

How do you stay fit when on the road?

My favorite form of exercising is walking. With all of my travel, walking is the easiest way for me to stay healthy. I always pack comfortable shoes so I can walk places while I am traveling. When I am home in New York, I do Pilates a few times a week.

Where is your favorite spa?

I love the spa at The St. Regis in Aspen. It is a nice escape from all of the action taking place in town.

What are some of your most memorable healthy and active vacations with your husband and sons?

I’ve been going to Aspen with my family for years–I love the mountains, the fresh air, and skiing. It is very special to us and has given us so many wonderful memories and traditions as a family. My family loves it, and we visit throughout the year and enjoy all the seasons.
