Sadly, theaters all over the world had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But many entertainment houses have found ways to engage and inspire people from the comfort of their homes. And New York's esteemed cabaret hot spot Joe's Pub has jumped into the virtual entertaining arena.
Joe's Pub is releasing archived filmed productions from their stage (one of the six performance spaces housed within The Public Theater) each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. They currently have content scheduled through June 20, 2020, with additional shows announced weekly.

Some of the shows in the lineup include "Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shazad Ismaily Trio," which is a unique blend of ancient mystic poetry and music; "Martha Redbone: Love Conquers All," a musical performance celebrating love; and singer/pianist/activist/composer Samora Pinderhughes' works will air on May 8, while talented ensemble The Hot Sardines perform their hits on May 15, 2020.
"Since our first stream with Roberto Fonseca on March 14, Joe's Pub Live! has proven to be a wonderfully mission-centric project as we adapt to joining together, remotely," says Alex Knowlton, Director Joe's Pub. "Of course, gathering together online three times a week isn't quite a replacement for being together in person every night at Joe's Pub, but we have found strength and joy in sharing a broad range of voices and stories from the community of artists and performers that call Joe's Pub home."

These online performances are thanks to a larger initiative by American Express to turn the American Express Experiences homepage to a place where Card Members can participate in virtual experiences like livestream shows, inside tours, sporting events, and more at home.
The American Express Experiences site is open and available to all (Card Members and non-Card Members). Viewers can either check out Joe's Pub's YouTube page or visit their calendar of events. Most livestreams stay up on the YouTube page after they have aired.
