Selective turned seasonal, and companies unveiled their scents like they did their fashion wear. Now perfume is the new cosmetic line, and companies are being very...well, expansive, releasing five, six, even seven at a time.
Here, some of our favorites.
L’Atelier de Givenchy
Givenchy’s line of seven fragrances incorporates some of the raw elements used to create the scents while giving a material nod to the glamorous fashions from which they’re derived, like Néroli Originel, inspired by a dress worn by Audrey Hepburn, Hubert de Givenchy’s first muse. $220 for 3.4 ounces at Saks Fifth Avenue.
The House of Creed
For more than two and a half centuries, The House of Creed has been hand- crafting unusual fragrances for royalty. This year Creed’s sixth-generation master perfumer, Olivier Creed, created the Acqua Originale Collection, five fragrances that focus on exploration and discovery. They’re inspired by his favorite destinations: Asian Green Tea, Aberdeen Lavender, Iris Tubereuse, Vetiver Geranium and Cedre Blanc. $300 for 3.4 ounces at Neiman Marcus.
Diana Vreeland Parfums
As the former editor-in-chief of Vogue, Diana Vreeland was known for her mantras, which have been resurrected thanks to her grandson, Alexander, who created Diana Vreeland Parfums collection, five fragrances named after those distinctive Vreeland-isms: Absolutely Vital, Simply Divine, Outrageously Vibrant, Perfectly Marvelous and Extravagance Russe. We think so, too. $185 for 1.7 ounces; $250 for 3.4 ounces at Bergdorf Goodman.
