The new Caruso flagship so effectively conjures Italian soil that it is nothing short of a sartorial embassy. Umberto Angeloni’s luxe menswear brand recently opened a 4,500-square-foot piece of la dolce vita in the middle of Manhattan, including poplar-wood floors from the Po Valley, Carrara marble and a striking wood intarsia installation by famed artist-cabinetmaker Giuseppe Amato. The unadorned plaster in the ready-to-wear front room, meant to honor a simple farmhouse, evokes a sultry palazzo in the VIP back room, where it’s matched with velvet curtains from La Scala. A particularly lovely touch: a room dedicated to blue blazers with a wide array of styles and fabrications.
