And this year’s Academy Awards red carpet offered plenty of gorgeous jewelry moments. In fact, when it came to necklaces specifically, the motto seemed to be: go big or go home. Case in point? Joker actress Zazie Beetz wore not one but two necklaces that cost more than $1.3 million. While interviewed on the red carpet, some female stars revealed that their statement jewelry was so expensive that it required them to be followed by a security guard.

All eyes were on the German-American actress tonight who stepped out in 120-carats worth of Bulgari jewelry that included two white gold necklaces.

The Veep actress has never had a bad red carpet moment and tonight was no exception. She wore an elegant Vera Wang dress in navy that she accessorized with a beautiful Harry Winston necklace. After all, they don’t call Winson “the jeweler to the stars” for nothing.
Monae shut down the carpet in a custom silver metallic Ralph Lauren dress that took 600 hours and thousands of Swarovski crystals to make. She paired it with a diamond choker by Forevermark.
Kaling told Ryan Seacrest that her show-stopping fringe diamond necklace had its own security guard to make sure it remained safe throughout the evening.
“I just cannot trip. I cannot lose this necklace,” she joked.
The Little Women director wore a custom Dior gown and a Bulgari High Jewelry necklace that featured seven emerald beads surrounded by 49 diamonds that weighed almost 75 carats.
Just before Theron hit the red carpet, her stylist Leslie Fremar posted a picture of her exquisite Tiffany&Co necklace on Instagram writing: “A night like tonight calls for one-of-a-kind natural diamonds – it’s no wonder these precious gems have been synonymous with Hollywood for decades.”
