Read on for everything you need to know this month in fashion.

Barneys Launches Exclusive Alaïa Capsule Collection
The first retailer to bring the Azzedine Alaïa collection to the United States in the early 1980s, Barneys New York has teamed up once again with the Tunisian-born designer to celebrate their 35-year union. As informed by archival designs, Monsieur Alaia has designed an eight-piece capsule—from a $2,050 sleeveless fit and flare dress to an $18,900 embroidered gown—for select Barneys locations. The retailer has also launched two exclusive Alaïa handbags as part of the collection, and will make Alaïa accessories available online for the first time. barneys.com.

Fendi Store Openings in New York City and San Francisco
Rome-based Fendi is expanding its retail presence in the States with the opening of two new stores: one in Manhattan’s SoHo (99 Greene Street), and another in San Francisco’s Union Square (201 Post Street). The SoHo location pays homage to its hometown with reclaimed brick walls salvaged from the city, while the Union Square outpost displays handmade tridimensional plasters, Italian travertine, and Navona and Portoro marble. Together, both boutiques house two stories of menswear and womenswear, as well as fur and accessories collections designed by Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi. fendi.com.

Forty Five Ten Opens West Coast Outpost
California welcomes luxury retailer Forty Five Ten to Yountville’s restaurant row (neighbors include Chef Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry and Bouchon). The Dallas-based company’s new outpost marks its fifth boutique total, but its first outside of Texas. The 865-square-foot space carries menswear and womenswear (from brands such as Celine, Mark Cross, and Loewe), as well as gifts and cosmetics. fortyfiveten.com.

New Fragrances from Tiffany, Jason Wu, and Gucci
August is all about florals—at least in fragrance. New releases include Tiffany & Co.’s Eau de Parfum ($130, tiffanys.com), which combines vert de mandarine, iris, and patchouli; Jason Wu’s first-ever fragrance, a mix of floral and wood with top notes of pink pepper and fig ($145, saksfifthavenue.com); and Gucci’s Bloom, the brand’s first fragrance under Alessandro Michele, a powdery, natural tuberose scent that's interlaced with jasmine ($124, saksfifthavenue.com).

'Avedon’s America' at Guild Hall in the Hamptons
Perhaps most well-known for his iconic Calvin Klein campaigns, Richard Avedon also photographed some of America’s most important historical moments, from the Civil and Women’s Rights Movements to the Vietnam War. This month, the Hamptons’ Guild Hall museum will spotlight over half a century of the late photographer’s work in its latest exhibition, “Avedon’s America.” Set to unveil on August 12, the show features only black and white portraits as a way to unify the diverse subjects, which include William F. Buckley, John Cage, Janis Joplin, Malcolm X, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump, among others. The exhibit goes through October 9. guildhall.org.

'Margiela: The Hermès Years' at Mode Museum in Antwerp
Martin Margiela may have retired over eight years ago, but his genius continues to influence designers and brands today—Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga and Vetements, Kanye West of Yeezy, and Phoebe Philo of Céline among them. Spotlighting the Belgian designer’s tenure as Hermès’ artistic director from 1997 to 2003 (during which he created the French house’s signature six-hole button that forms a threaded "H"), “Margiela: The Hermès Years” juxtaposes his work from Hermès and his own label, Maison Martin Margiela. The exhibition runs in Antwerp through August 27. momu.be.
