How to Incorporate Pantone's 'Color of the Year' Into Your Wardrobe and Life
There are so many ways to add "Living Coral," Pantone's 'Color of the Year,' into your home and wardrobe.
Every winter, the color experts at Pantone reflect on the year in fashion, art, culture, travel, and product trends and pick a color that embodies the mood and expression that they predict will trend the following year.
2018's pick was a dramatic deep purple hue called "Ultra Violet", a shade used with great effect by artists such as David Bowie and Prince and was meant to help us be our boldest, most glamorous self. Now, it's time for another shade to take the reigns.
For 2019's 'Color of the Year' predictions have taken a lighter, more mellow turn. Enter: Living Coral. Inspired by sunsets and beautiful reefs the orange-pink shade was picked to symbolize an “innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits”. With an obvious nod to mother nature, this year's pick can be found in landscapes all over the world. From Southern Australia to the coast of Canada, "Living Coral" is an ode to the beauty in the world.
“Color enhances and influences the way we experience life,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “As a shade that affirms life through a dual role of energizing and nourishing, Living Coral reinforces how colors can embody our collective experience and reflect what is taking place in our global culture at a moment in time.”
Here's how to incorporate the cheerful shade into your life, wardrobe, and home.
