Inspired by the brand’s iconic Cabin suitcase, the new limited-edition case called "Reflection" features Rimowa's signature aluminum shell, with a shiny surface to honor Moncler’s coveted reflective down jackets. It’s also branded with Moncler’s logo. The slick surface offers a striking contrast with the matte black handles and exterior hardware. Of course, the most unique detail is the front LED screen that you can customize to scroll with your text of choice via the “REFLECTION” app.
"Named for its mirrored aluminum surface, the conceptual new luggage design is also a reflection on the state of personal communications and the social media messages that populate our digital domains," Moncler's press release notes.
Rimowa is one of the first travel brands to be featured as part of Moncler Genius platform, which saw 12 different digital-themed installations and eight new lines debuted as part of Milan Fashion Week 2020, including JW Anderson, Simone Rocha, and Richard Quinn who reinterpreted Moncler's down jacket.
This is just the latest innovation from the luxury luggage brand which has been a leader in luxury luggage since the 1800s, which has been in a period of innovation recently thanks to new CEO, 27-year-old Alexandre Arnault. They partnered with Dior, Italian streetwear brand Off-White, and in November, they launched its first-ever personalization service.
The limited-edition Reflection suitcase is set to launch in June at selected stores and online at RIMOWA.com and is set to retail for $2,690.
