4 Outerwear Staples Every Man Needs This Fall and Winter
Don’t feel forlorn as you pack away breezy summer wares. These four handsome styles of jackets and coats will keep you cozy—and well dressed—until spring.
A winter coat is one of those items we dauntingly label as "an investment piece," as if choosing one needs a visit to our accountant and a list of pros and cons. But just because it is usually a high ticket buy, doesn’t mean you have to stick to a flavorless black overcoat.
Sure, the Fall/Winter runways had their fair share of warm and wooly classics—the double-breasted overcoat, for example—but even that staple shape got an updated fit that played with proportion. A lightweight topper, usually rain resistant or welded from some techy-poly blend or finished with a bold print, made a fun addition to looks otherwise heavy in black and grey.
Our favorite jacket made an appearance as well: a cropped, aviator inspired mix that fell somewhere between the bomber and the blouson—the end result being more refined than rebellious, and therefore, much more wearable. And for anyone still feeling like they need to make an investment in their outerwear: look no further than the sumptuous, shearling lined peacoats and moto jackets of the season, for a piece that will keep you warm for years to come.
