Our Editors' Guide to Packing for Fashion Week
Traveling to fashion week this fall? Take these editor-approved picks along for the ride.

Each city demands its own wardrobe essentials, and this holds especially true for the four major fashion cities: New York, London, Milan, and Paris. And, as our editors pack up for a few weeks on the road, we must make sure to include the necessities.
For New York, that can mean anything from camisoles to structured jackets depending on the weather, but comfortable shoes are a must—sometimes walking can beat the traffic during fashion week gridlock. London is always a little cooler than expected, so pack a heavy knit and, of course, a trench coat for the inevitable rainy day. Milan is full of fabulously mix-and-matched prints and patterns for women, but for men, it’s all about suiting. And Paris? Well, just keep it chic. Editors tend to save all their favorite looks for the City of Lights.
Here are our editors' packing must-haves by city.

New York: The Row
New York can still be sweltering in September, so it is essential to pack lightweight options that can also easily be layered. A silk camisole from The Row paired with your favorite high-waisted jean or wide leg trouser will keep you cool between shows. And if it cools down, just throw on a linen blazer or leather bomber.

Nike
Sneakers can be a girls best friend when running around New York by foot to beat the traffic.

Officine Generale
The pajama shirt is the male equivalent of the camisole above. In a classic color it can go with anything from day to night so it’s the perfect packing piece.

Barena
Linen shorts can be a lifesaver in warm New York weather. This sunny color is an exclusive for Mr. Porter so get it while it’s hot.

Tom Ford
Sneakers are essential for men in New York too. Keep it casual with this cream suede pair from Tom Ford.

Barney’s New York
There’s nothing like a classic umbrella in a brightly colored twill to keep you happy on a rainy day. You don’t want to get caught having to use the branded hotel lobby umbrella.

Moncler
It’s not all doom and gloom in London and this versatile navy raincoat from Moncler is chic enough to be worn on even in the sunshine.

Drake’s
Classic flourishes like a pocket square are a great accent to London’s Savile Row tailored pieces.

Milan: Preen Line
For those of us too overwhelmed by all the mix and match opportunities when packing, this Preen Line dress does it for you.

Gucci
If you aren’t ready to embrace the full Milanese look of head to toe print, try a floral silk blouse from a classic Italian house like Gucci.

Fendi
Keeping with the theme of print, a medium sized shoulder bag from Fendi is perfect for holding fashion week invites and an extra phone charger for the road.

Alexander Mcqueen
Milan is the perfect place to break out a classic double-breasted well-tailored suit jacket. Wear it with the matching suit pants, or pair it with a jeans and loafers for a more casual look.

This full skirt from Bottega Veneta is so versatile it can take you from day to night, which is perfect for anyone on the go in the city of lights.

Repetto
After weeks on your feet sometimes you need a little break. Repetto makes a great low-heeled ballet slipper that keep you both chic and comfortable. Another plus is they wont take up much space in your luggage.

Saint Laurent
