New Collectibles: The Best Men’s Loafers

The menswear staple gets a fresh take for 2017.

Loafers have a rich history. Inspired by Native American moccasins, founded by Norwegian fishermen, and worn by everyone from Ivy League undergrads to Michael Jackson, J.F.K., and James Dean, the slip-ons have faded in and out of fashion since the 1930s.  Fast-forward to 2017 and we’re happy to say that the idler’s shoe lives to see another day—with tassels, metallic hardware, contrast piping, and more. Here, we’ve rounded up nine of our favorite iterations of the style, fit for the coastal waters of Norway, the old stomping grounds of your alma mater, or wherever your time is best dallied.
