Founder Ben Clymer’s five favorite things from the watch site’s newly relaunched online boutique.
Since its debut in 2008, Hodinkee.com has become the definitive destination for watch geeks both seasoned and sophomore. The site’s concise editorial take on the newest, biggest, and boldest timepieces from Swiss behemoths and the white-hot vintage market is easy to digest and makes watch shopping a less complicated process (no pun intended).
In 2012, founder and editor-in-chief Ben Clymer added a small selection of watch-related items for sale on the site, such as interchangeable Italian leather watch straps and ties inspired by the dial of a vintage Rolex Submariner (the latter a collaboration with Drake’s of London). Items quickly sold out.
Last month, Clymer relaunched the shop, adding offerings that cater to a watch connoisseur’s lifestyle, beyond straps and ties: There are limited-edition prints by photographer Al Satterwhite, sumptuous coffee table books, leather-wrapped headphones, and vintage sunglasses in styles as specific and coveted as the timepieces they should be paired with. Herewith, Clymer lists his top six picks from the new selection of goods.
