Silverhorn jewelry design

A cornucopia of color, texture, and design—that's Silverhorn, whose atelier, specializing in contemporary and Deco-inspired jewels, overlooks the Pacific in Santa Barbara. Owners Michael and Carole Ridding, in the jewelry design business for nearly three decades, have combed the corners of the globe for fine colored gemstones and the talented craftsmen who fashion them into unique, award-winning pieces. Michael, who has a degree in geology, says, "We never take the easy path of duplicating a good idea ad infinitum. We move on, we augment the collection." The result—bracelets, brooches, necklaces, earclips, and big rings: golden South Sea pearl with diamonds set in platinum ($19,600); rare white agate mounted in 18-karat rose gold ($4,200); rubies, emeralds, blue and yellow sapphires, and diamonds in 18-karat white gold ($16,000); chrysoprase and diamonds in 18-karat white and yellow gold ($5,900); oval and round diamonds in platinum ($42,000); pink sapphire with multicolored sapphires, rubies, and diamonds in 18-karat white gold ($12,500); pink tourmaline in 18-karat gold ($3,700); pink sapphire and diamonds in 18-karat gold ($7,250); imperial topaz with Paraíba tourmalines and diamonds in 18-karat white and yellow gold ($8,500).
