Sorely missed during a nearly four-year closure and renovation, the reopened Ritz Paris is grander then ever before. The glittering Place Vendôme address originally opened in 1898 and its grand siècle style has been carefully preserved: 80 percent of the furnishings, tapestries, and light fixtures were restored (not replaced). But there are plenty of exciting new additions, too, like the library-like Salon Proust where a French tea time is served each afternoon; the reimagined Coco Chanel suite that sports a black-and-white color scheme, Asian lacquer, and gilded mirrors; and a concept shop that offers exclusive items like an Olympia Le-Tan Moveable Feast clutch. Purists will be happy to see that the hotel’s palatial welcome lobby, stunning underground pool, and killer Hemingway bar are back and largely unchanged. (Rooms, from $1,120)
