FINE HOTELS & RESORTS MEMBER

This Philippe Starck–designed property near the Arc de Triomphe is no doubt a luxury hotel, but it also offers a bit more whimsy and playfulness than the city’s collection of “Palace” distinction hotels. After all, innovative pâtissier Pierré Herme supplies all the sweets, the gift shop is an art bookstore, and there’s even a hotel cinema offering movie nights. In another fun twist, ’50s-inspired guest rooms each have a map showcasing Starck’s favorite places in Paris. Famed chef Nobu Matsuhisa recently opened his first restaurant in France at the hotel and the ethereal Spa My Blend by Clarins, which features an infinity pool and a skylight that floods the below-ground space with natural light, is one of the best in Paris. (Rooms, from $950)
