This SoHo boutique from designer-hotelier Kit Kemp is a mainstay for Hollywood elite during the Tribeca Film Festival—and appreciated by anyone with an interest in contemporary art (works by Juame Plensa, Anselm Kiefer, and others hang throughout). All 86 rooms feature colorful, patterned decor, tall ceilings, and a wall of warehouse-style windows, but the ones on the hotel’s upper floors offer sweeping views of lower Manhattan. (The 700-square-foot, second-floor Meadow Suite has a private terrace with manicured wildflowers.) The hotel also features a state-of-the-art 99-seat screening room, and its rooftop garden provides seasonal produce for The Crosby Bar and Terrace. Come October, arriving guests will be greeted by a sculpture from Colombian artist Fernando Botero, to be installed outside the hotel’s entrance. (Rooms, from $595)
