Villa Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
Very few people come to Miami for its minimalist style. If fabulous, over-the-top, tropical opulence is more your speed, then we have the wedding photo–worthy backdrop for you. The Villa Vizcaya is a Jazz Age mélange of Italian Renaissance and Baroque architecture, with formal gardens and a “village” of outbuildings. Lavishly decorated by its millionaire owner in the 1910s, it has been run as a Miami-Dade County art museum since 1952. Only a 20 minutes’ drive from the beach, it’s a must-see two-hour outing. (Bonus trivia: Pope John Paul II met with President and Mrs. Reagan here in 1987. They fit right in.)
