Joe’s Stone Crab
No trip to Miami is complete without a visit to Joe’s Stone Crab. Opened more than 100 years ago, this South Beach institution is most famous for its meaty crab claws from the Menippe mercenaria, a thick-shelled crab indigenous to South Florida’s waters. Also be sure to order their chopped salad, potatoes Lyonnaise, and Key lime pie. (The restaurant has a dedicated Key lime pie baker whose job is to turn out 200 pies a day.) Joe’s doesn’t accept reservations, but ask the host to seat you at a table in the original dining room.
