Camp Surf
With its picturesque beaches and ideal ocean conditions, the coastal enclave of Manhattan Beach—just two miles south of LAX—is one of the best spots in Southern California to learn how to surf. Camp Surf is the official surf school of the city, and has been running classes through the Department of Parks and Recreation since 1997. Private sessions are available from beginner level to advanced, and include top-quality surfboards and Body Glove wetsuits, overseen by group of experienced instructors led by competitive longboarder and top shortboarder Tommy Ostendorf.
