TOPO
The neighborhood of Martim Moniz is just at the edge of popular Baixa, but it was largely ignored for years due to its seedy, drug-filled past. Recently, the area has received more attention, with a tented food market in adjacent Praça da Figueira on weekends and this fantastic indoor-outdoor bar on the roof of a commercial building. Vistas from TOPO are outstanding because of its location on the periphery of the city center, leaving Lisbon’s hilly terrain all the way up to the castle in full view. The best time to visit is late afternoon, when it’s not yet too crowded with locals who come for post-work drinks. It will fill up over the course of the night. Grab a refreshing cocktail, courtesy of mixology consultants Black Pepper & Basil, and watch the sunset.
