Branca Lisboa

Saldanha
Furniture + Design

With designer Marco Sousa Santos, whose work has been exhibited at the likes of V&A and MoMA, at the helm, Branca Lisboa produces streamlined furniture full of whimsy. A low-lying sofa, for example, comes with individual foam cushions that when stacked together create an ombre effect. One of Santos’ most popular pieces, however, is the curvy Shell Chair. Made of Portuguese birch, the chair’s organic cocoon shape allows for natural weight distribution when you’re seated. You can also fill it up with as many (or as few) pillows as you want—an ergonomic wonder. Its creation for an exhibition brought the designer so much attention that it actually led to the founding of Branca Lisboa in 2011.
