Joan Miró Foundation
This foundation and modern art museum, located on Montjuïc hill, was created by Miró himself to encourage young artists to get involved in contemporary art. Offering a very intimate look into the life of the Barcelona-born artist, visitors today will see works from his private collection, including his early work and more famous pieces like The Gold of the Azure, as well as contemporary sculpture and paintings. The museum opened to the public in 1975 in a rationalist building designed by Josep Lluís Sert and with courtyards, terraces, and views of the city it offers a serene space to appreciate the simple forms and primary colors found in Miró’s work. Private visits to the permanent collection can be arranged. Price on request, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
