For the past 14 years, barber Martial Vivot has had a hand in shaping the hairstyles of America’s most influential gentlemen. But with the launch of the Martial Vivot Grooming Line for Hair, Vivot’s touch now extends beyond his Salon Pour Hommes (39 W. 54th St.; 212-956-2990; martialvivot.com). “I have been cutting men’s hair since I was 15,” he says. “I opened my own salon in 2008. Launching my own line of products was really the next logical step.”
The five all-natural products—shampoo ($40), conditioner ($50), gel ($30), crème ($30) and paste ($30) (our personal favorite)—use organic ingredients like aloe, flax seed, and argan oil, as well as a mix of vitamins and amino acids that are known to encourage hair growth and slow graying. The handsome, black matte bottles were inspired by the shapes of flasks and cigarette packs—an aesthetic that Vivot says is the same as his hair-cutting philosophy: “Rough and slick.”
