Art NY and CONTEXT NY

May 3 – 7, 2017

The third and second editions, respectively, of these already well-regarded sister contemporary art fairs return to New York, showcasing more than 120 international galleries and over 1,200 artists from fifty countries between them. Focusing on the modern, post-war, and pop periods, Art NY will feature work by Warhol, Lichtenstein, de Kooning, and Ruscha; other highlights include an Amarist Studio installation inspired by the current refugee crisis, and “Rockers Rawk,” an exhibit combining the musical images of veteran photographer Bob Gruen with snaps by iconic musicians like David Bowie, John Lennon, and Debbie Harry. CONTEXT, focused more on mid-career and emerging artists, will include several galleries focusing on work inspired by current social issues. Pier 94, 711 12th Ave.; artnyfair.com and contextnyfair.com.
