“The Orchid Show: Thailand” at the New York Botanical Garden

February 18 – April 9, 2017

If the winds, snow, and otherwise generally unpleasant mood of winter have you craving a trip to the South Pacific, consider a stop-off at the New York Botanical Garden, which will be transformed into an orchid-filled Thai paradise until April 9. The 15th annual orchid show pays tribute to the world’s biggest exporter of those tropical blooms (over 1,200 species are native to its hospitable climes). Wander the eleven environments of the Haupt Conservatory to find the spectacular blossoms within a traditional Thai garden setting, the showpiece of which is the façade of a sala, a Thai pavilion used for shade and relaxation, which will be draped in orchids. 2900 Southern Blvd., Bronx, New York; nybg.org.
