Japan's Artist of the Moment: Kohei Nawa

Direction #51

In his "Direction" series, Nawa dribbles paint from above the edge of a vertical canvas rotated 15 degrees. The paint slowly makes its way across the canvas to create parallel stripes of varying thickness. The works evoke the speed of movement, direction, and gravity.
