Vintage Handbag and Jewelry Auction, Fine Art Auctions Miami
As Miami’s cultural and artistic profile has risen over the past decade, the city has lured smart newcomers to leverage this change via new businesses. French gallerist and auctioneer Frederic Thut is an excellent example: He’s the man behind the city’s foremost auction house, Fine Art Auctions Miami, or FAAM. Cannily, Thut schedules the highest-profile sale of the year—a vintage handbag and jewelry auction—to coincide with the Art Basel Miami Beach show. Last year sales included a passel of Birkin and Kelly bags from Hermès, such as a pristine, Cocaon Birkin, still in its box, for $8,000; bidders can expect similar consignments this time around.
