The Career Coach

After spending 25 years in publishing—and launching magazines such as Allure, Lucky, and our very own DEPARTURES—Sandy Golinkin gained a reputation for her ability to mentor. So in 2009 she launched Raising the Bar, a career consultancy for recent college grads that’s based in New York but savvy about employment everywhere. “Part of my role is seeing opportunity where my client may not,” says Golinkin, who notes a recent surge in grads unable to find entry-level jobs in an evolving market. Her client list is small so she can be hands-on and available. “She provides action- able and accurate feedback,” says one devotee. “Her advice played a critical role in my getting the job.” 212-772-6949; raisingthebar1.com.
