Manhattan’s Pierre hotel is owned by the Mumbai-based Taj brand, but we’ve always missed the presence of a great Indian restaurant there. So we were delighted when we were told that chef Ashfer Biju can prepare an in-room Indian feast—as elaborate (or not) as any guest of the hotel wishes. On November 26, 2012, Departures hosted its own fête du Mumbai, which included chef Daniel Boulud, who dropped us the following note: “Thank you so much for transporting us to India last night. The evening was intimate, exciting and spiced up! I appreciate the invitation and that you could pull me out of my own kitchen.”
