Founder Mitchell Wolfson Jr., heir to an entertainment-industry fortune, opened the museum in 1995, donating it to the state of Florida two years later. Its collections include some 120,000 objects from 1885, the height of the Industrial Revolution, to 1945, the end of World War II.
