For eco-conscious travelers, your choice of airline can make a huge difference.

A new report has rated more than 200 airlines and 33 million flights from around the globe, ranking them from best to worst for their carbon emissions and environmental impact.

The report by German non-profit, Atmosfair, said in their findings that airlines which achieve the best results are those using modern equipment, having high seating density and high rates of passenger occupancy and load utilization.

In their annual Atmosfair Airline Index for 2018, published on Saturday, no airlines received an A for efficiency, and only two airlines were ranked in efficiency class B.

The British airline TUI Airways came top of the rankings for the second year running, reaching just under 80% of the possible optimum level of carbon emissions. TUI Fly, the company’s German counterpart, came in fourth.

Among the US airlines, Alaska Airlines ranked 22nd, Delta Air Lines came in 45th, United Airlines ranked 50th, and American Airlines placed 58th. Envoy Air, a subsidiary of American Airlines came 122nd.
