“I love to start the day with the newspapers from White’s Pharmacy (81 Main St.; 631-324-0082) and breakfast from the Montauk Bake Shoppe (29 The Plaza; 631-668-2439). Next, I’ll go for a hike at Napeague Harbor Road to see the views from 80-foot high dunes. When it’s lunchtime, I’ll grab a tuna salad at Naturally Good Foods (779 NY-27; 631-668-9030) or a wrap from Joni’s Kitchen (28 South Etna Ave. #9; 631-668-3663)—if the line is not too long. Both spots have excellent smoothies, too. Later on it's off Montauk Point State Park (2000 Montauk Hwy.) to see the oldest lighthouse in New York (commissioned by George Washington in 1792) and the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Block Island Sound, followed by afternoon swim at Old Montauk Highway Beach. The best dinners in town are the impromptu dinner parties at my house with friends who help prepare local, fresh fish from Gosman’s Fish Market (484 W. Lake Dr.; 631-668-5645). I like to steam whatever the daily catch is and serve it with fresh vegetables. The best thing about Montauk? You really feel like you are at the end of the continent." —Tomas Maier
