If your dream has even been living out your days on your own private island—one that’s large enough to give you space for all of your hobbies, but not too large that it can’t be maintained—it’s your lucky day. The Norwegian island of Tjaereholmen is up for sale and the scenery cannot be beat.
With the island comes one main building and a pier for a handful of boats. The main building on the island is typical of Nordic design: lots of light, a focus on minimalism, and an ability to blend into the surrounding landscape in the best way possible. There’s a main reception hall in the building (perfect for all of your island parties), multiple terraces, gardens, and a dining area with a view of the nearby sea. The home has four bedrooms, including a lofted area for added privacy.
When you tire of your own private island, you can take a quick boat ride to the nearby islands of Lyngør, Risør, or Arendal for shopping, restaurants, and basic social interaction. But it will be hard to tear yourself away from your own secluded view of the surrounding Tvedestrand fjords. Given its ideal location for fishing, it’s safe to say you would spot passing fishing boats early in the morning—which only adds to the idyllic daydream of this area in general.
According to Vladi Private Islands, Tjaereholmen is going for $2.3 million. Included in the price is the ability to park one boat and one car on the mainland, which is a quick boat ride from the island. For more information on the island and how to buy it, head to the online listing.
