Staying in a luxury hotel is already a relaxing experience. But Rosewood Mayakoba, an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property, decided to kick it up a notch by creating new Wellness Suites as part of the resort’s recent $20 million reimagination that could be some of the healthiest hotel rooms in the world.
Debuting in January 2020, the eight new suites will be located on a private island within Mayakoba’s freshwater lagoons and feature a variety of wellness-focused amenities. To start, each loft-style suite features a private salt therapy pool with lagoon views. These pools are meant to boost the immune and nervous systems thanks to the medicinal qualities of the salts and minerals. There’s also an outdoor “serenity pavilion” in the private garden, which is meant to be used for healthy activities like yoga, personal training, massage, or sessions with the resort’s shaman. And an onsite reflexology fountain provides support for the circulation system and lymphatic drainage.
In the suite, you’ll find amenities to enhance both your sleep and overall well being. For restorative sleep, there’s a circadian light lamp that simulates the movement of the sun and unique pillowcases that prevent wrinkles and moisture loss. Meanwhile, the shower heads have essential oils that provide antioxidant properties for the skin, and in-room oil diffusers made with herbs handpicked from the property garden create a relaxing ambiance.
Even the minibar is healthy. Instead of a mini bottle of booze, there is a superfood menu, alkaline water dispenser, pressed juices, and herbal teas.
What’s more, is Wellness Suites guests get complimentary access to all scheduled fitness classes and are assigned a “wellbeing butler” who will help curate an experience to meet the guests’ goals.
While these suites are new, the five-star ultra-luxury property located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, has long been known for its pioneering wellness programming. It’s home to the award-winning, five-star Sense spa, Ayurvedic wellness program, and Marry Oneself, a personal journey dedicated to self-acceptance and self-love.
Of course, this is all on top of access to the stunning 1,600-acre resort that has a mile-long beach, signature Greg Norman championship golf course, and fine dining at Casa del Lago and Punta Bonita. It will be hard to go home not feeling refreshed.
