Prince Charles has been busy. On the same day that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle introduced their newborn son, Archie, to the world, Prince Charles announced a new adventure for himself: the opening of The Granary Lodge Bed and Breakfast.
Located on the grounds of the Castle of Mey along the northern coast of Scotland in Caithness, the luxury bed and breakfast is home to 10 rooms and two suites. A stay includes a homemade breakfast and the encouragement to end your day with a “wee dram from the bar” while watching the sunset from the drawing room.
The location is perfect, given that there is so much to see and do in the Scottish Highlands. The bed and breakfast is close to distilleries, bird watching, seal spotting, plenty of natural attractions like the Achavanich Standing Stones, and puffin watching.

According to CNBC, the location of the bed and breakfast inside the Castle of Mey has royal importance. The castle served as a retreat for Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles’ grandmother, between 1952 and 1996. Like any other bed and breakfast, you can expect the cozy feel of a family home… only this time, there are photos of the royal family lining the walls instead of complete strangers.
Despite what you may initially think, a room at The Granary Lodge is surprisingly easy on the wallet. The rooms start at $208 a night, which is only going to help solidify the area as a tourist destination. For more information on the bed and breakfast, head to The Granary Lodge website.
