How many times have you daydreamed about quitting your job and traveling the world? The problem is that fantasy is hard to afford. Well, one company wants to make that dream a reality. PrAna, a sustainable clothing brand, just launched their "Day Job to Dream Job" contest where they will pay one person a salary of $100,000 for a year as long as they quit their jobs to pursue a passion.
"At prAna, we know from experience that personal growth often lies outside your comfort zone," reads the contest website. "And sometimes, all you need is a friendly nudge to help you make that leap. That's why we're looking for one courageous person willing to quit their current job to pursue their lifelong passion."
That passion can include traveling the world. If you're a filmmaker wanting to make that documentary in a foreign country finally, you could do it. Are you an artist who wants to create masterpieces in Japan? It's totally possible. Or, amateur pastry chefs can become masters by spending time in French bakeries. The company has no criteria for the type of passion project or how you spend the salary. Their only requirement is that you share updates along your journey.
Interested in applying? To enter, you must be over 21 years old and need to submit a one to three-minute video that briefly details your current job and explains your dream job. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of prAna representatives who will select a finalist based on their "passion, boldness, originality, personality and quality of entry." And don't worry; you don't have to quit your job just yet, only the finalist will be asked to do so.
All entries are due by September 16, and the $100,000 will be distributed in quarterly payments of $25,000 to the winner.
