The extra-spacious rooms are a perfect retreat for couples, enabling guests to relax on their own when they aren’t dining or enjoying the sights with the rest of their travel group. The carriage will have a dedicated steward to ensure the highest level of Belmond service. The private carriage with four cabin suites is ideal for family gatherings or a trip with friends, especially as Europe slowly opens to travelers who are still interested in following distancing protocol and only interacting with their immediate circle. To that end, when the train relaunches, it will operate at reduced capacity, with 88 passengers rather than 164 to ensure adequate spacing between cabins and in the dining cars.
If traveling with a group of eight isn’t quite your speed, booking one of the grand suites aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a perfect alternative. The train debuted three new grand suites in 2020—the Vienna, Prague, and Budapest suites—which joined the existing Venice, Istanbul, and Paris suites onboard.
The grand suites come with unlimited Champagne, a personal 24-hour cabin steward, private in-cabin dining, and a private living area and en-suite bathroom and shower. An one-night journey in any of the grand suites starts at £6,200 per person.
These grand suites can also be booked for the exclusive private train experience. Because three grand suites comprise one car on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the grand suite version of the experience hosts six people. The six guests booking the personal train carriage with grand suites enjoy the same private dining offer in the Cote d’Azur dining car, as well caviar on arrival and free-flowing Champagne throughout their journey.
