If you love Paris and are a fan of Modern Family then chances are you really enjoyed the TV show’s latest episode dedicated to Valentine’s Day. In it, the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan jets off to the City of Lights so Jay can accept a lifetime achievement award for his work in the closet industry. Naturally, hilarity ensues and at the very end of the episode, the cast is filmed having Valentine’s day dinner at a restaurant that boasts the most stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.
Well, it turns out that this scene was filmed at the Michelin-starred l’Oiseau Blanc (or The White Bird), located at the top of The Peninsula Paris—an American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts property. The famed eatery was named after the plane in which French pilots Charles Nungesser and François Coli attempted to cross the Atlantic in 1927 (a replica of the plane can be seen outside the restaurant’s terrace). There, chef Sidney Redel serves modern French cuisine prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients that he picks from the market each day.
In another scene, Clare and Phil had a rendez-vous with an old flame of Claire's at his Parisian suite that was also filmed at The Peninsula Paris’ Rooftop Garden Suite overlooking the breathtaking Parisian skyline with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The duplex spans more than 1,200 square feet and includes a walk-in closet, a marble bathroom stocked with luxury toiletries, and of course that gorgeous balcony perfect for romantic dinners and cocktails. You also get a Mini Cooper at your disposal that will take you anywhere in the French capital. Très chic!
What makes The Peninsula Paris so special is, among other things, its perfect location in the City of Lights—it’s situated in the heart of Paris. Being within walking distance to the Arc de Triomphe it’s no wonder that the hotel offers some of the most stunning views of the city, attracting the entire cast of Modern Family.
